CM Update 5/1/11

1 John 2:1 -- My little children, I am writing these ting to you so that you may not sin.  But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

I love how John tells us to deal with sin as a Christian.  When, though he despise when it happens, we sin, we have a simple solution to reunite us with the Father...Jesus Christ the righteous.  May your faith in his work of propitiation keep you confident in your standing with the Lord.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 4/15/11

1 Samuel 30:6 -- And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters.  But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

After David and his men returned home from an outing, they came back to their city being burned and their families missing.  The people were very upset and ready to stone David.  David did not lose control or cast blame for what had happened, but he turned to the Lord to seek His counsel.

When things get difficult in our life, we need to be like David and turn to God to determine what we should do.  We should never let fear grip us into indecision, but take rest and know that the Lord will give us right counsel.

Pastor Alan

CM Update 3/13/11

Matthew 14:13 -- Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself.  But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns.

Have you ever become frustrated at the busyness of life and how it can seem to rob time from the Lord.  I can sometimes find myself thinking about how much easier it must of been to spend time with the Lord before smart phones, email, instant chat, and automobiles and the demand they put on one's life.  How much better the days must of been before instant access to everything and everyone was possible.  It can cause me to begin to wonder, "How can anyone do it?" Then I read a verse like this.

Long before the mind conceived such technological advances, Jesus was succumbed to demands we could not even dream about.  About the only time he could get away from everyone, and with his Father, was in the middle of the night.  Jesus knows about a busy life with great demands...therefore he is able to help us when we are stretched by such demands and tempted to lose time with the Lord.  Call out to Him when you need time with the Lord and ask for His help to find that precious time we all need.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 3/6/11

Leviticus 11:1 -- "Speak to the people of Israel, saying, These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth."

By this declaration, God wanted his people to know He had a say so in every part of their life...even in what they eat!  I have been pondering lately how much I allow God to be the Lord over what I eat.  If he demands to have every part of our lives, does he still desire to be Lord over our diet?  I think so.  I need to let Him into that area of my life...not because the Law says so, but because I want it so.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 2/27/11

Psalm 112:7 -- He (the righteous man) is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  Praise the Lord we can hold on to this truth.  We need not be afraid of bad news because we know that He works all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.  We also know that those who wait on the Lord will run and not grow weary, will walk and not grow faint.  Praise the Lord we serve and have the GOD of the all things as our husband and protector!

Philippians 4:4 -- Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Seriously...need I say more.  If you are having a hard time with this today then take just 2 minutes to stop and think about how good He is and how He has saved you from eternal punishment in hell.  Then you will be able to rejoice in the Lord always!
