CM Update 6/28/09

Matthew 2:19-20 - Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child's life are dead."

Often times, it can feel like we keep getting beat in our pursuit of living close to God. Our own desires or the snares of the enemy divert us from where we intend to go. This verse in which Herod dies gives me hope because it is true that we will outlast our enemies. I don't mean in physical years here on Earth but in the sense that our enemies are bound to perish which includes even our own selfish desires. Conversely, our spirits are going to live forever with the Lord. Someday it will be said that Phil is in heaven while all those who sought his life are dead, and the same is true for you.

In Jesus,
Phil

CM Update 6/21/09

Matthew 2:8 - And [King Herod] sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also."

As Herod did to the wise men, the Enemy is skilled in using trickery and deception. His goal is to confuse the minister of God with falsehood. Therefore, we need to pray that the Lord gives us discernment (clear understanding) as we minister to the kids and parents. Ask God to show you what is really the heart of a child's problem or how to help a parent with a certain circumstance. God is able and willing to give us wisdom when we ask.

In Jesus,
Phil

CM Update 6/14/09

Luke 2:36-37 - Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

Our culture constantly complains about old age, and we exalt in the glories of youth. The problem is that this is counter to the heart of God. God's word gives glory to the aged. It praises those who have lived a full number of days. Proverbs says that the 'gray head' is the splendor of the aged. Be diligent to find older believers who can be an example to you. Anna (in the preceding verses) is a beautiful example of the type of person with whom I want to spend time.

In Jesus,
Phil

CM Update 6/7/09

Luke 2:17 - Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.

Each us can relate in someway to the time when we first came to know Jesus in a life changing way. He was no longer the Savior. He is now my Savior, and He is real. This revelation caused us to pour forth His work in our lives to others. But, most of us can also relate to losing some of this passion bursting forth. Let us pray together that God will stir up the joy of our salvation so we might proclaim widely the work of Jesus.

In Jesus,
Phil
