CM Update 3/28/10

Joshua 1:9 -- "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

1 Chronicles 28:20 -- Then David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.

Scripture are the words of God, and the words of God never diminish in power or effectiveness. King David knew this. In 1 Chronicles, it appears David is exhorting his son by quoting the same words the Lord used to exhort Joshua before entering the Promised Land. I love being able to speak scripture to people and I love when they speak it to me...not necessarily in the sense of memorization, but in the context of a normal conversation with real life application. Few things have a greater impact than a timely word of God spoken into our lives. Look for opportunities to speak scripture into peoples lives...to encourage, reproof, correct, teach, and train in righteousness.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 3/7/10

Psalm 17:13-15 -- Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down; deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword, with Your hand from men, O LORD, from men of the world who have their portion in this life, and whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, and leave the rest of their possession for their babes. As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

What satisfies the believer? We are not satisfied with the temporary. We are satisfied with the eternal. One temporal treasure that many of us value more than anything is our families, but even they don't fulfill us. We are satisfied in seeing the face of God; in having a close relationship with Him. What a wonderful Psalm and a great truth on which to reflect.

In Jesus,
Phil
