CM Update 6/27/10

Colossians 4:6 -- Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

James (ch. 3) tells us that no man can tame the tongue...that it sets ablaze great and destructive fires. Paul tells us to ALWAYS let our speech be full of grace to attract people to Jesus. These two scriptures combined remind me how much I need Jesus to fill me with the Holy Spirit...that He may take control of my world of unrighteousness (James 3:6) that it may always be gracious, seasoned with salt. Then I will truly be prepared to answer each person concerning the hope that lies within me.

Praise the Lord, He is always more than willing to change our speech from restless evil, to refreshing words of life.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 6/20/10

Luke 19:17 -- And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.'

God does not need us to do His work. He does, however, desire (and command) us to be about His work and be faithful in it. Our Father and Master wants us to partake in His work in order to shape and mold our character into that of Jesus and to teach us about His nature and love for people. We have a choice...to be found a good servant by being faithful in the work or to be a lazy servant in the work He has for us, earning ourselves a bad name.

Remember, the Lord loves us very much and strongly desires, and allows, us to have the privilege of joining Him in a work that will last forever. Be diligent in your service to the children and in sharing the Gospel with them and you will no doubt hear, "Well done, good servant!"

Pastor Alan

CM Update 6/13/10

Proverbs 22:1 -- A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.

Jesus...definitely a good name. Jesus is the name we are to choose over great riches, and finding favor from God through Jesus is far better than silver or gold that will perish. Once we have chosen Jesus and receive Jesus into our lives we are to continue to pursue that good Name so that we may grow closer to Him in knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and character. It is then that people will start to give us a good name...giving us the opportunity to tell them about the true Good One, Jesus.

Pursue Jesus with your life in order to make for yourself a good name with the children. By doing so you will be able to point them to Jesus as the source of all true good.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 6/06/10

Colossians 1:22-23 -- Christ has now reconciled (you) in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the Gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Christ, by His blood, has made us friends of God. That is the good news of Jesus...the Gospel. This is the news that gives meaning to our lives, that makes all we sacrifice, all we suffer, all we love, to having purpose and eternal value. This is a remarkable thing for us, and all we need do is to remain faithful to the hope that we heard. If you start feeling frustrated with life, remember the Gospel. Preach it to yourself, remind yourself of the glorious news of Jesus!

This is also the news we want to pass on to the children. We want to do this in a way that will help them
continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the Gospel that you heard and that they are hearing. The best way to do this is to teach them in a way that makes the Gospel attractive...teach them in a way that draws them to Jesus. Do you remember what drew you to Christ? Not who brought you to church, but what caused you to give your life to Jesus...teach that. Thank you for all you do to serve the Lord and our children.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan
