CM Update 8/29/10

Romans 8:33 -- Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.

Satan is known as "the accuser of the brothers" (Rev 12:10). He loves nothing more than to accuse us night and day about our short comings and and what we deserve because of them. While I agree with him about what I deserve, I do not agree with him when it comes to what I will get. God has decided what I will get...and that is GOOD thing. God's decision, by the blood of Jesus and by His resurrection, is that I receive an adoption as His son. God has justified me by my faith in Jesus...this makes me His elect. Because of this I can stand strong in my relationship with the Lord knowing no one can bring a charge against me...not even the accuser.

Pastor Alan

CM Update 8/22/10

Habakkuk 3:17-18 -- Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Things don't always go according to our plan in life. Sometimes we experience blessings, sometimes we experience struggles. But no matter what we go through...no matter how difficult our lives may become at any point in time, we CAN take joy in the God of our salvation.

This joy, however, will not come from our own will. It will only come from the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives as we set our minds on the things of the Spirit and not on the things of the flesh (Romans 8). Praise God for Jesus, who gives us His Spirit and makes it possible for us to take joy in our Father's salvation...even in the midst of hard times.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 8/15/10

Romans 7:18(b) -- For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

If you have been a Christian for longer than 2 hours you have experienced what the Apostle Paul is talking about here. There is in us the desire to follow God and obey Him wholeheartedly, but when we try to put it into practice we fail. Oh the frustration! Paul says it best...Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Thank you Lord for sending us Jesus who can give us the ability that we lack to carry out the good works you have planned for us. Though we, in our flesh, cannot accomplish (from the heart) the good we are to do, Jesus transforms us into His image as we abide in Him, allowing us (from the heart) to carry out the good that God commands us to do. Thank you Jesus!

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 8/08/10

Romans 6:6 -- For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

The law gives us no power over sin. It simply leaves us on our own, with an increased knowledge of our sin, to deal with our problem. But the grace that has come to us from God through His Son, Jesus, provide us with holy power to overcome the destructive power of sin.

Take hold of the free gift that was given to you at the price of the blood of Jesus and do not allow sin to reign over you, but instead allow the grace of God to be poured out into your life as you commune with Him, trusting that a relationship with Him will bring you the holy life you desire.
