CM Update 1/30/11

Exodus 19:24(b) -- And the Lord said to (Moses), "Go down and come up bringing Aaron with you.  But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest he break out against them."

Hebrews 4:16 --  (Since we have Jesus as our High Priest), Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

Wow...what a contrast.  One verse is the Lord forbidding the people to draw near Him and the other is speaking about how we can now approach the Lord because of what Jesus has done for us.  Enough said...praise Jesus today for what He has done for you.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 1/23/10

Luke 24:49(b) -- "But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

Jesus is about to ascend to be with the Father, but first he commissions the Apostles to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins to all the nations in His name.  However, He first tells them to wait to be clothed with the Holy Spirit.  He knew they needed His power to do this successfully.

Though Jesus told the Apostles to spread the Gospel he also told them to wait on the Holy Spirit.  We too, though told to spread the Gospel, need to wait for the Holy Spirit to guide us in how we should do this and to give us power to do it effectively.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 1/16/10

Matthew 10:27 -- "What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops."

God often does his work in our hearts in the dark times of our lives or in the silent moments we spend with him.  Though the work is accomplished in darkness and silent whispers, the Lord desires us to make His wonderful work known to others, bringing glory to His name and encouraging people to seek Him in their lives.  Don't be silent about what the Lord is doing in your life...shout it from the rooftops!

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan

CM Update 1/9/10

Matthew 4:15 -- "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-

I find it ironic where Jesus started his ministry.  Jesus did his first preaching, teaching, and miracles not in sinful Reuben, not in violent Simeon, not in the great Judah or beloved Benjamin, not in massive Manasseh or blessed Ephraim, but in obscure Zebulun and Naphtali;  he went to the outcast...Galilee of the Gentiles.  Just as Jesus did great work in these obscure outcast type of places he also wants to do great work in the hearts of obscure outcast people.  Look for the obscure and outcast you may come across in life...it could be that Jesus wants to use you to do his work in their hearts.

In the Grace of Christ,
Pastor Alan
